The Criminal Justice at the University of Canterbury folk would like to invite you to Happy You Forum Theatre on Friday 2 December at 7pm at the Ngaio Marsh Theatre in Christchurch, New Zealand. Attendance is free and you are welcome to bring friends and family.
Theatre by Happy You is a transformative experience for actors and audiences alike. The performance artists, who have been involved with the justice system in some way, shape or form, draw on their life experiences for the performance.
In this style of theatre, the main character faces some kind of adversity or challenge. The situation for this character deteriorates and ultimately the outcome is negative. At the end of the performance, the audience is given the opportunity to reflect on what they have seen and discuss among themselves what the character could have done differently to change the situation for a more positive result.
Happy Youโฆ!! Theatre is about conquering fears, building empathy and stepping outside the comfort zone in a safe environment. The plays are captivating with an unassailable authenticity.
